A Letter from the President

To:  Jeffersonville Soccer Club Members

From:  Jeff Winters, President

Date:  March 6, 2023

With the New Year comes change and it is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation, effective March 31, 2023, from Jeffersonville Soccer Club after 8 years of rewarding service (the last 4 years as President).  With my children having been out of the club for the past few years, this is the right time for me to step back and let the next generation of Jeffersonville families take the reins of JSC and continue to maintain and build what is a strong organizational foundation. I would like to thank the many other board members and families I have been so lucky to work with over the years.

I have been involved with many youth organizations over the years, and I have to say, JSC is one of the best organizations I have been around!  What makes this organization one of the best are the families and kids!  The passion for the community and club is second to none and I am so very lucky to have been a part of this club for so long.

The club is positioned for continued growth in the future and we have some great programs that have recently been kicked off or will be kicked off shortly:

  • Philadelphia Union Partnership – This partnership provides our members with many opportunities including professional training, coaching education, player development pathway, and exclusive Union discounts!

  • Jeffersonville Juniors Soccer Academy – Professional training for 5-8 year olds in the spring and fall at a steeply discounted price.  You won’t find professional training anywhere in the area for a better price and the kids get a free Jeffersonville Juniors shirt and soccer ball!  Space is limited so register today!

  • Padden Park Field Rehab Project – This spring JSC will be kicking off a grass rehab project to create a better play surface for the kids.

Our club provides a tremendous service to hundreds of families in the Norristown Area. Many of you volunteer to coach or otherwise support team activities. For those not interested in soccer side support, we always have a need for professional and administrative support. As noted above, we have several open positions on the board. The following roles are available in 2023 and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about regarding these roles.

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Director of Fundraising
  • Director of Social Media

While coaching requires a strong weekly commitment, soccer specific knowledge and skill, our board roles leverage traditional managerial skills and can be very rewarding. If you have concerns regarding time commitment, we find that these roles typically only require a few hours a month. Our existing members are willing to help transition folks into these. We are a collaborative team representing JSC and similar to what we teach our children on the field, the goal is always to build consensus and teamwork to achieve JSC’s goals.

We welcome new parents into these roles to support the organization and I want to stress that the health of the organization is dependent on this support. Anyone interested in any role can reach out to info@jvillesc.com or any of our board members for additional details on these roles.

In closing, I have found my time with JSC to be a personally rewarding way to demonstrate to my children the value of supporting the organization and their community as a whole. JSC is in great financial and organizational shape heading into 2023 and I look forward to seeing what the next generation of families does to improve it even further. I encourage you to join the team to support our programs and, ultimately, your children. I think you will be glad you did.

Your’s in soccer,

Jeff Winters

President
